Top Eight Most Recyclable Products In The World Today

Recycling is not a new concept. It has been around for centuries in some shape or form. It has just taken us a while to catch up with our ancestors, to whom recycling was a way of life. After all, it is great for the environment and everyone is doing it. If you take a moment to inspect the curbside in your local neighborhood on trash day, you will see for yourself. Many homes have separate boxes of tin and metals, papers and cardboard, plastics, and some even go as far as recycling glass. If you are thinking about jumping on the bandwagon and either recycling your own products or are in the market to purchase products made from recycled products, here is a list of the eight most popular recyclable products in the world today.

    Metals & Tins

Metal was one of the first items my mother recycled when I was a child. It probably sounds familiar: emptying your dinner canned goods, rinsing them out and then tossing them in the recycle bin. Recycled metals can be used for a vast variety of products, however metal is most commonly recycled for use in the automobile and construction industries.

    Paper & Cardboard

If you are at all familiar with recycling, you already know that the recycling battle started over paper, trees to be exact. And to this day, it is still one of the leading causes for debates over the years with environmentalists. There is a never-ending list of the many uses that paper can be re-used.

    Plastics

Recycling plastic is tricky business because of the many different types of plastics used in our products today. Plastics are resin-specific, meaning not all plastics can be used for all purposes.

    Glass

Items such as beautiful glass tabletops and landscaping surfaces to candle holders and vases are created from recycled glass bottles.

    Cars

Did you know that almost 85% of all car parts are recyclable? In fact, cars are the most recycled consumer product today, almost 100% as a matter of fact. Car engines, transmissions, doors, and many other parts are totally remanufactured or "rebuilt" to fit another car. Engine oil, gasoline and even coolant are recycled as well. Tires are often recycled to become brake petals and even floor mats. The industry is huge, it accounts for $25 billion in revenue each year.

    Fabric

Clothing is another popular way to recycle. Recycled fabric can be turned into new and innovative clothing and purses. Why throw out your used clothes when you can recycle them into something else. Take a pair of jeans for example. Let's say you wore out the knees. Don't throw them away; make a pair of shorts out of them. If you visit any hobby store today, you will find many new and exciting ways to dress up and use outdated clothing.

    Ink Cartridges

This is probably the newest means of recycling in the world today. Instead of throwing away your used up ink cartridge, you can take to a dealer and have it refilled for a fraction of the cost of new. Not only does this save money, but saves unwanted plastic in our landfills too.

    Furniture

Reupholstered furniture is stylish and modern. It is a great way to create a new look in your home or office for very little money, in comparison to re-buying the furniture. It is shame to see furniture sitting out on the road on trash day, when there are plenty of people willing to give it a good home. Consider recycling it through websites like freecycle.org before sending it to the city dump.
